Filament sensor used in RepRap 3D printers. It is connected to the device's motherboard. The main task of the sensor is the ongoing control of the feeding of the material for printing. If its travel is correct, the LED on the sensor turns green. In case of a sudden break caused by the filament exhaustion, printing is paused. This is indicated by the green diode going off. Stopping work avoids damage to the molded model. After the print material has been replaced, operation resumes. The sensor is compatible with a filament with a diameter of 1.75 mm.
