CarbonX PEEK+CF20 Carbon Fiber Reinforced Filament

CarbonX PEEK+CF20 is one of the best polymers used for FFF/FDM 3D printing. Made with 20% high modulus chopped carbon fiber to provide exceptional stiffness, strength and dimensional stability.

PEEK+CF20 is one of the highest quality thermoplastics ever invented. It is used in some of the most demanding applications in industries such as automotive, aerospace, defense, semiconductor and oil/gas. Engineers rely on PEEK when failure is not an option.

Printing with CarbonX PEEK+CF20

PEEK has a melting point (Tm) of 343°C, so you’ll need an all-metal… An extruder that can reach (and sustain) temperatures of up to 400°C or higher, depending on your specific printer. Every printer, cutter, and printing environment is different, so you’ll need to find the right process for you. One of the hardest aspects of printing with PEEK was getting it to stick to the build plate.

Please note: PEEK + CF20 tends to stick to metal (PEEK loves metal). Be sure to clean your extruder thoroughly before cooling down, or you risk clogging. Seriously, we know this firsthand.

Recommended print settings:

Extruder: 385–415°C
Bed temperature: 130–150°C
Nozzle: We currently recommend a hardened steel nozzle with a minimum diameter of 0.4mm.
Other: The ideal layer height is 60% of the nozzle diameter. We do not recommend printing layers smaller than 0.2mm with carbon fiber reinforced filaments. Substrate preparation: Nano polymer adhesive or 3DXTECH polyimide tape
Heated chamber: Recommended
Supports: ThermaX HTS high temperature support was specifically designed to work with complex, high temperature materials such as this.
Drying instructions: 120°C for 4 hours.
