3DXSTAT ESD-PETG is an advanced ESD resistant compound designed for use in critical applications requiring protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD). Manufactured using cutting-edge multi-walled carbon nanotube technology, advanced mixing technology and precision extrusion processes. The target surface resistance is between 107 and 109 ohms.

PETG Chemical Resistance:

Unstressed tensile rods cast from PETG exhibit good resistance to dilute aqueous solutions of mineral acids, bases, salts and soaps, as well as aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols and various oils. Halogenated hydrocarbons, short-chain ketones and aromatic hydrocarbons dissolve or swell the plastic.

Typical ESD-PETG Applications:

Semiconductor: HDD components, wafer handling, devices, housings and connectors
Industrial: Conveying, measurement and sensing applications

3DXSTAT ESD-PETG Target Conductivity:

10^7-10^9 ohms surface resistance in 3DP sample using concentric ring test method.
Note: Internal testing has shown that higher conductivity levels can be achieved by increasing extruder temperature. Similarly, lower extruder temperature resulted in lower conductivity levels. Every printer is set up differently, as is part geometry. Therefore, expect some time to test to understand how this filament performs in your specific printer/application. However, do not exceed 270°C to reduce the risk of polymer degradation.

Surface Conductivity as a Function of Extruder Temperature:

The surface resistivity of a printed ESD-safe part will vary depending on the temperature of the printer’s extruder. For example, if testing shows that the part is too insulating, increasing the extruder temperature will improve the conductivity. Therefore, the surface resistivity can be “tuned” by adjusting the extruder temperature up or down based on the readings obtained on the part.

Recommended print settings:

Extruder: 230-260°C
Bed temperature: 60-90°C
Bed preparation: Magigoo Bed Prep adhesive and 3DXTECH polyimide tape
Heated chamber: Not required
Supports: Water-soluble AquaTek X1 USM is great for complex parts.
Drying instructions: 65°C for 4 hours.
