The F15B decoder allows reception of all audio standards, including NICAM stereo. The decoder digitally processes the received signal, so the sound quality is very good. When the decoder is installed on the TV, it takes over all the functions of the audio track, except volume, timbre and sound balance. The decoder is designed to operate in two basic configurations:
Configuration I is for stereo receivers using the receiver's internal amplifier and speakers. All original receiver features are retained.
Configuration II for monophonic receivers requires cooperation with external stereo AUDIO equipment. The sound parameters are controlled by an external amplifier.
The decoder automatically recognizes the standard of the incoming sound and can indicate its type (mono, stereo, two sounds). To make it easier to connect the set-top box to various TV receivers, several additional boards have been designed. Using these boards, the decoder can be connected to most stereo or mono TVs. The F15B decoder can also be installed in A2 system stereo video players, expanding their capabilities with NICAM reception.
