Buck-Boost converter manufactured by SparkFun is a voltage regulator type step-up/step-down. The board allows you to precisely convert an input voltage between 3 V and 16 V to an output value between 2.5 V and 9 V. Typical output voltages of 3.3 V and 5 V can be set using the switch on the bottom of the board. The SparkFun converter uses the TPS63070 Buck-Boost converter, which takes the input power and adjusts the output voltage up or down to the set output voltage. The manufacturer has also used a custom setting here that allows you to solder a resistor if you need custom voltage values.
