The Wagney FY01 24V DC actuator enables the electrical control of machine components, flaps, covers, and sliding mechanisms. The version with a 300 mm stroke provides a range of motion suitable for structures requiring a longer piston rod extension. With a force of 2500 N and a speed of 13 mm/s, the actuator is well-suited for systems operating under moderate loads.
The actuator can move an attached component directly or, via a linkage (lever mechanism), lift and tilt it. This versatility allows the same type of actuator to be used both in linear motion mechanisms and in structures featuring opening parts.
Linear motion exceeding 300 mm
The 300 mm piston rod extension can be used to open larger flaps, move machine assemblies, or adjust the position of operational components. This is essential for mechanisms where a shorter stroke would fail to provide the necessary displacement or opening angle.
When selecting an actuator, consider its 2500 N force capacity and its mounting method. In a linkage mechanism, the load on the actuator depends on the distance of the mounting point from the axis of rotation, as well as the angle at which the piston rod acts. Proper positioning of the mounting points ensures that the available stroke aligns correctly with the movement of the driven component.
Aluminum structure with a worm gear
A durable aluminum alloy housing protects the drive components, while a cylindrical aluminum profile forms the actuator's piston rod. The design incorporates a worm gear coupled with a screw mechanism.
The gear assembly consists of a steel worm and a polymer worm wheel. It transmits the motor's rotational motion to a screw, which—in conjunction with a nut—extends or retracts the piston rod. The individual drive components form an integrated mechanism that converts electrical energy into linear motion.
Trapezoidal Lead Screw and Self-Lubricating Nut
The actuator utilizes a multi-start trapezoidal lead screw paired with a high-strength polymer nut. The nut is crafted from a material with self-lubricating properties, which helps reduce friction during screw operation. This mechanism is housed within the piston rod and facilitates movement across the entire stroke range.
55W DC Motor and Directional Control
The actuator is powered by a 55W brushed DC motor with a nominal voltage of 24V DC. This design allows for easy control of movement in both directions through a polarity-reversal system.
Reversing the polarity of the power supply toggles the actuator between extending and retracting the piston rod. Consequently, the same unit handles both opening and closing, or the movement of an element in either direction.
Integrated Limit Switches for End-of-Travel Control
Fixed (non-adjustable) limit switches are installed inside the housing to stop the motor when the end positions are reached. During extension, the internal nut triggers a limit switch at the point of full extension. Reversing the polarity causes the piston rod to retract until the second limit switch is activated. This allows the movement to stop automatically when the piston rod is fully extended or retracted. There is no need to manually disconnect the power source at the exact moment the end of the stroke is reached; the control system stops the actuator by cutting off the power supply.
The actuator lacks feedback regarding the current position of the piston rod, so an additional measurement solution is required to detect intermediate positions.
Control via push-buttons, radio-controlled systems, or a PLC
In simple systems, the actuator can be operated using push-buttons connected to relays. If remote control is required, a radio control unit with relays can be used to activate the actuator and change its direction.
The FY01 model can also be integrated into a system controlled by a PLC, a microcontroller, or a building automation system. In such configurations, the actuator translates commands from the controller into power for the motor, allowing the actuator's movement to be synchronized with the operation of other parts of the equipment.
When completing your installation, be sure to check the "Related Products" tab, which includes control units, controllers, and power supplies. The selected components must be compatible with the actuator's supply voltage and current requirements.
Pivoting mount using 10 mm diameter pins
Two mounting points—at the base of the housing and at the end of the piston rod—allow for installation using 10 mm pins. The actuator should be mounted in a pivoting manner so that its position can adjust according to the movement of the connected mechanism.
When opening a hatch or lifting a lid, the actuator changes its angle relative to the structure. The pin connections accommodate this movement at both the housing and the piston rod, enabling the actuator to interact with a rotating component.
Actuator for indoor machinery and automation
The FY01 linear actuator, featuring a 300 mm stroke, can be used for electrically opening lids, operating flaps, moving machine parts, and adjusting the position of equipment components. It can also be utilized in window and door opening mechanisms, controlled either locally or via an automation system.
The actuator has an IP43 protection rating and is designed for indoor use. It is suitable for projects requiring a longer stroke, a force of 2500 N, and operation via a 24V DC system.
