An encoder is a device that converts rotary motion into a sequence of pulses. A precise optical system is installed inside. Using an encoder, it is possible to measure the speed of rotation, distance, acceleration and direction of rotation.

Very often, an encoder is used by connecting it to a screw or measuring roller to measure the displacement of linear elements, such as displacement distance or speed. Encoders are also mounted on servo motors. The encoders of the PKT series are intended for industrial use in heavy machinery. They are suitable for reading the position of shafts when mounted directly on them. They are ideal for use as shaft encoders, such as in lathes.

Encoders are often used in industrial automation to automate specific operations, of course in conjunction with a suitable controller.

Encoders with LINE DRIVER output from the PKT1030 series have a shaft bore of 30 mm diameter. The encoders have A, /A, B, /B channels and additional Z and /Z channels that allow you to set the encoder reference position. A wide supply voltage range from 5V to 30V and a linear controller output allow you to use the encoder in a variety of devices and make it very easy to connect. The 1.8 m long connecting cable, protruding from the side of the housing, has a screen that protects the encoder signals from interference. The encoder can operate at speeds up to 6000 rpm and a maximum output frequency of 100 kHz. The operating temperature range is from -10°C to +70°C.
