The Ortur R1 is designed to democratize laser engraving. Whether you’re a hobbyist, small business, or gift maker, the R1’s intuitive features and flexible options let you start engraving quickly and confidently. The machine supports two laser modules: the 5W blue laser, which is optimized for materials like wood, acrylic, plastic, leather, paper and more
and the 1.3W IR (infrared) laser, which can engrave on various metals.
Portability
One of the standout features is the tool-free folding design. You simply unfold the machine and begin engraving, with no assembly or calibration needed. The device weighs only 2.4 kg and folds into a compact form, making it easy to move, transport or store.
Performance &Capabilities
Despite its compact size, the R1 is capable. It supports engraving speeds up to 5,000 mm/min and has a spot size as small as 0.025 × 0.11 mm (for the 5W) or 0.03 × 0.03 mm (for the 1.3W). Depending on your material and precision needs, it delivers clean, sharp results. The maximum working area is 100 × 100 mm for the 5W version (for non-metal) and 100 × 80 mm for the 1.3W version (for metal).
Safety &User Protection
User safety is a key consideration. The R1 includes multiple safeguards such as auto stop when the cover is opened, tilt detection, USB port lock, watchdog timer, and exposure limits. The machine is rated as Class 1 for safer operation, which helps reduce accidental exposure to laser beams.
Software &User Experience
The Ortur R1 is paired with an all-in-one mobile and desktop app that includes a built-in editor, access to a design library, and support for multiple languages. You can quickly input text, load images, or choose templates without needing external software. The app supports both online and offline usage and allows remote control and file transfer.
Build Quality &Sustainability
Ortur has prioritized both durability and eco-friendliness. The R1 is made from 92% recycled aluminum, and in standby mode it consumes as little as 0.1 W, helping to reduce energy waste. The product carries CE and RoHS certifications, and meets the EPEAT Silver standard.
