An encoder is a device that converts rotational motion into a sequence of pulses. It contains a precise internal optical system. Using an encoder allows for the measurement of the number of revolutions, rotational speed, distance, acceleration, and direction of rotation.
A very common application involves connecting an encoder to a screw mechanism or a measuring roller, which enables the measurement of the displacement of linear elements—for example, travel distance or travel speed. Encoders are also frequently mounted on servo motors. Our encoders are ideally suited for replacing damaged servo encoders or for retrofitting older servo drive systems.
Encoders are widely used in industrial automation to automate specific processes—typically in conjunction with an appropriate controller.
The PKB3806 series encoders, which feature a "Line Driver" output, are designed with a 6 mm diameter shaft bore. They include channels A, /A, B, and /B, as well as additional Z and /Z channels, which allow for the determination of a reference (index) position. With a broad supply voltage range (5V to 30V) and a Line Driver output, these encoders are highly versatile and easy to integrate into various systems. The 1.8-meter connection cable, which exits from the side of the housing, is shielded to protect the signals generated by the encoder from interference. The encoder can operate at rotational speeds of up to 6000 RPM, with a maximum output signal frequency of 100 kHz. The operating temperature range is -10°C to +70°C.
