Description of pins and connection diagram: How to connect the Transducer:

On the SSK-MB motherboard there is an AUX connector to the pins of which we connect the transducer input as follows:

  • pin 4 GND with GND ground in the transducer
  • pin 1 (14 LPT) with the IN input in the transducer

Connect the OUT transducer output together with GND to the appropriate voltage input in the inverter (read the inverter manual before connecting).

Spindle transducer operation:

The transducer was tested at room temperature, i.e. 20°C and relative humidity of 50-60%.
A stabilized 12V power supply should be used to power the transducer, because changes in the supply voltage may cause changes in the output voltage.
The potentiometer located on the transducer board is used to roughly adjust the output voltage - in some cases, thanks to this potentiometer, you can precisely set a given output voltage.

The current capacity of the converter is not higher than 20mA, therefore the output cables from the board to the inverter should be as short as possible so as not to "throttle" the output voltage.

Mach2 program configuration:

To be able to control the spindle rotation, the program must be properly configured. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to do this:

First, in the configuration tab, select the Logic option and uncheck the Use information from the spindle to control the drive box in the lower left corner (third square from the bottom), click OK. Then, in the Ports and pins tab. , in the Port setup and axis selection tab, select the spindle axis Enabled option, the PWM control option remains unchecked (after each change, click APPLY):

Then we go to the Output pins tab and in the lower left corner we have the spindle step option, where we enter the number in the first window. port, i.e. 1 and in the next window we enter the port number - in our case it is port number 15 and click apply, close the window:

Now, in the menu bar, configuration tab, select the Motor tuning option, click on the Spindle button in the upper right corner, in this window we select the speed and, at the same time, the input frequency in our transducer, in the Steps window on (steps per unit ) on the left side, enter the value 100, click the Save axis tuning button and use the Accel slider to move the extreme right to obtain a straight line on the graph, set the Velocity slider to 1/3 of its height, click ok and we lower the window. It should look something like this:

The final step is to turn on the inverter (after configuring it and connecting the transducer module) and try the spindle control module in Mach2. The spindle is controlled using the buttons located in the lower left corner of the program (main window - program start):

The S parameter is the number of spindle revolutions, the increment parameter. determines the constant of increasing/decreasing the number of revolutions, and the spindle button turns on the control (remember that S should be greater than zero, otherwise the regulation will not be enabled).

If everything has been connected and set correctly, after entering a number into S and adjusting it with the S- and S+ buttons with the spindle button turned on, the spindle speed adjustment from the program should be noticeable. In order for the speed S to match the actual speed of the motor, you need to set the speed appropriately (experimentally) in the motor tuning tab, you can also adjust the speed with a potentiometer on the inverter or a potentiometer on the transducer.
