We offer high-end B+C class surge protection from Pro-Tec. A lightning arrester (varistor) is an electrical device designed to protect a local electrical network and the equipment connected to it from sudden, transient overvoltages—for example, those caused by a direct lightning strike to an overhead power line. The product is designed to limit the magnitude of the resulting follow-on current and shorten its duration. This helps protect the electrical installation and all devices currently connected to it.

This type of protection is used in low-voltage systems (up to 1000 V). The device offered combines the characteristics of both Class B and Class C (Type 1 and Type 2) protection, making it an excellent choice for residential use. Class B components are specifically responsible for preventing damage caused by overvoltages resulting from a lightning strike, reducing the voltage to 2.5 kV. Class C components protect the installation from lower-magnitude surges, reducing the voltage to 1.5 kV. Protection devices of different classes should be used in a cascade configuration to gradually lower the voltage level (Class D, for instance, reduces it to 0.8 kV). If a home has only one distribution board, both Class B and Class C protection should be used (combined "2-in-1" B+C units are also available). The device consists of four modules and has an IP20 protection rating. It limits the voltage to less than 1 kV. The peak discharge current can reach up to 65 kA.

Proper grounding is essential; an installation with high resistance could direct electricity into the building, damaging the electrical network and all connected devices. The cross-section of the connection conductors must not exceed 35 mm² to ensure correct installation.
