Loctite 574 is a single-component, fast-curing, medium-strength anaerobic sealant. It hardens between closely fitting metal surfaces after cutting off contact with air.
It's primarily used to seal tight-fitting joints between rigid metal surfaces, providing low-pressure resistance immediately after installation. It's commonly applied as a formed-in-place seal on rigid flange connections, such as those found in gearboxes and engine blocks.
Parameters:
- Shear strength on steel: 8.5 N/mm²
- Time to obtain full strength at a gap of 0.05 mm (22°C):
- Steel: 12 hours
- Aluminum: 15 hours
- Time to obtain initial strength (22°C):
- Steel: after 15 minutes
